Chino Hills Job Fair


Henry Anchondo, Business Resource Specialist from the County of San Bernardino Department of Economic Development (D.E.D.), releases ten job applicants at a time to enter the McCoy Equestrian Center to meet with up to twenty-nine prospective employers opening new stores at The Shoppes at Chino Hills. Job hopefuls Jessica Gonzalas and Vanessa Alarzon, both of Chino, arrived an hour before the 9:30 a.m. start of the job fair and were finally admitted into the McCoy Center to meet with prospective employers after waiting in line for nearly 2 ½ hours.


Chino Hills High seniors Marielle David and Amber Christon, waited 1 ½ hours in line and are seen here talking to Eric Pierce of Barnes and Noble about summer employment.

Fuzziwigs Candy Factory store owner Rebecca Huereque said the turn-out for the job fair was “overwhelming”. “We brought one-thousand applications and we gave them all out the first hour,” she said. Here she talks with Chaffey College student and Chino resident Melody Barthe who waited in line for two hours to get the chance to talk to prospective employers.


Chino Hills Sheriff’s deputy Raymond Perez diverts traffic away from the McCoy Equestrian Center. Later arriving job seekers were turned away and Peyton Avenue was closed due to the large turnout and increased traffic caused by the job fair.


Sandra Trujillo of Chino talks with Paul Atkins, assistant manager of Jared – The Galleria of Jewelry, after waiting outside in the hot sun for 3 hours before making it inside. Mr. Atkins said he arrived at 8:30 a.m. to set up and there was already a “huge crowd” in line. “The turnout has been amazing,” he added. Mrs. Trujillo added “They need more water out there and to stop the kids from cutting in line.”
