The late Mexican artist Frida Kahlo will come to life on the stage of the Chino Community Theatre at 13123 Seventh Street at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30.
Cost is $10.
The one-woman show about the iconic artist whose work was rediscovered in the late 1970s will feature Beaumont actress Linda Bustillos.
“Murder by Life!” was written and directed by playwright and veteran actor John Lynd of JTL Productions as part of his celebrated “Acting Out” series bringing history to life.
He said the Frida Kahlo story will reveal the “fascinating life” behind the legend in an intimate setting.
Ms. Kahlo, a controversial figure, was born in Coyoacan, Mexico City, Mexico in 1907 and died in 1954 at the age of 47.
She was married to the acclaimed Mexican artist Diego Rivera, had a tumultuous life, suffered from ill health after a serious trolley accident, was involved in political activism, and developed her own art style inspired from Mexican folk culture.
She drew numerous self-portraits, some graphic.
Mr. Lynd cautioned that the performance includes some strong language, graphic art, and mature subject matter.
Mr. Lynd has produced several one-man shows including Edgar Allen Poe, Benjamin Franklin, and Vincent Van Gogh under JTL Productions with his wife, Toni Lynd.
