Red Hat Society

Red Hat Society women are shown at a high tea luncheon (front row, from left) Rita Banks, Queen Gloria Diaz, Dana Chambers, and (back, from left) Mary Pat Keller, Gloria Rivera, Terry Crabb, and Wanda Guesnon.

The Chino chapter of the Red Hat Society invites new members to a Meet and Greet, 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Liberty Park, 11860 Telephone Ave., Chino.  Light refreshments will be served.

Wanda Guesnon said the chapter, called Mon Chéries, meaning “my dears” in French, has been meeting for 11 years and is open to women of Chino Hills, Chino, and adjacent cities.

“We’re a women’s social group whose primary purpose is to enrich lives by making new friends, interacting with other chapters, and having fun sharing good times,” Ms. Guesnon said.

Members who are 50 years and above wear red hats and purple clothing. Women under 50 are known as “pinkies” and wear pink hats and lavender clothing, she said. Members enjoy a wide variety of events including home gatherings, multi-chapter outings, plays, concerts, horse races, and high tea. She said the Mon Chéries are proud of their reputation for hosting popular activities such as bingo and themed events.
