More than 30,000 people are expected to attend the 2019 Planes of Fame Museum Air Show Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 at Chino Airport, 7000 Merrill Ave., Chino.
General admission tickets are $25. Children under 11 will be admitted free. Parking is free, but a limited number of preferred parking passes are available for $17.50 at the Planes of Fame gift shop until they are sold out.
Gates open at 8 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 10:45 a.m.
The air show will conclude at 4 p.m. each day.
This year’s event will commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day and will feature more than 50 historic aircraft, such as the P-47 Thunderbolt, P-38 Lightning and P-51 Mustang.
Several aerobatic planes will perform and a tribute to Planes of Fame Museum pilot David Vopat will be held.
Mr. Vopat, 51, of Chino, was killed Monday in a test flight of a N9MB Northrup “Flying Wing”, a 75-year-old plane that was the only one of its kind still in existence.
Several military vehicles will be on display. Food, drinks and souvenirs will be sold.
