Indiana State Police arrested a 24-year-old Chino Hills man on felony marijuana charges Monday during a traffic stop where 30 pounds of marijuana stuffed in two duffle bags was found inside his car.

Jairo De Reuda Martinez was booked into the Porter County Jail, according to Indiana State Police.

A trooper stopped the driver of a 2011 black Dodge Durango around 1 p.m. central time for speeding on Interstate 80 in Porter County, said Trooper Glen Fifield.

“The driver appeared to be extremely nervous and subsequent investigation led to a Portage K-9 being called to the scene,” Trooper Fifield said. “The K-9 alerted to the presence of possible illegal substances in the vehicle.”

Officers then searched the car and found the duffle bags, filled with marijuana, the spokesman added.

The driver’s car was impounded.

In addition to marijuana dealing charges, Mr. Martinez is facing possession of marijuana charges, which is a class B misdemeanor in Indiana.
