Merced C. Tarin

Merced C. Tarin, 90, of Devore, a former Chino resident, died Jan. 17, 2019 at home.

She was born Aug. 10, 1928 in Riverside.

As a young girl, Merced worked at Victoria Citrus Packing House in Casa Blanca, played baseball and loved to dance at the Rainbow Ballroom where she met and married Joe Tarin of Chino.

They enjoyed camping and fishing and spent many years at the Salton Sea with their grandchildren. They also continued dancing after the fish frys until his death in 1997. Merced enjoyed her grandchildren and taking small trips to the casino. She also enjoyed playing bingo at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Chino.

Merced is survived by her daughters Pamela Galindo (Ralph) of Chino and Anna Peebles of Devore; son, Joe Tarin (Myra) of West Covina; sisters Soledad Mendoza, Consuelo Ortega and Dolores Garcia, all of Casa Blanca; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are set for 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 5048 D St., Chino. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. that day at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, staging area 7.
