Johnny A Cortez, age 84 passed away on January 24, 2019, at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Johnny was born on June 22, 1934, in San Bernardino to Antonio and Inocencia Cortez. He was a lifelong resident of Chino and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Theresa Cortez, sons John Cortez Jr. of North Carolina, Anthony Cortez of Fontana, Ted “Beaver” Cortez of Chino, daughter Maria Cortez of Chino , 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great, great, grandchild. He was preceded in death and greeted in heaven by son, Eddie Cortez and daughter, Christina Valencia.  Johnny was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend and was loved by everyone. He was a man of faith, he loved God and was a devoted Catholic. He loved the church he attended, Our Lady of Guadalupe, which, he attended mass at since he was a little boy. He was a great horseshoe player and boxer. He was as tough as they come with a heart of gold, always willing to help those in need and always setting the perfect example of unconditional love. His memory will live on forever in everyone whose lives he touched, and he will be truly missed.  “They don’t make ’em like him anymore!” Visitation at Funeraria Del Angel Chino on Friday, 2/15/19 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. and viewing to start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, 2/16/19 with Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial to follow.
