The average household in Chino owed $21,038 in credit card debt and has paid down an average of $876 for the first quarter of 2018, according to personal finance website WalletHub. The average household in Chino Hills owed $17,451 and had paid down an average of $727 for the same period. Nationwide average household credit card debt was $8,166. 


Monte Vista Water District, which serves portions of Chino and sells water to the city of Chino Hills, for the 14th year has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, a Chicago-based nonprofit association serving more than 18,000 government finance professionals. 


Perennial area political candidate Paul Vincent Avila, 74, who came in third in the last election seeking State Senator Connie Leyva’s 20th district seat, was found dead Tuesday in his Ontario home, apparently from natural causes. In the past he had been elected to seats on the Ontario council and the Ontario-Montclair school board. 


A Chino resident who came to a city council meeting to request the speed limit on San Antonio Avenue below Chino Avenue be lowered because of dangerous conditions was pleasantly surprised to learn the city was lowering the speed limit on her block that night as part of several changes.


It might be time to raise the seats for Chino city council members sitting at the dais. The audience can only see about half of their faces from below.
