The average age of inmates at the California Institution for Men is 53 years old but equates to 75 years old because of health issues related to lifestyle, said prison officials during a recent citizens meeting. The Chino prison has become the destination for high risk medical and older populations because specialty services are available in the area, unlike desert area prisons. This is why mental health crisis facilities are proposed in Chino and San Diego prisons.
A micro-brewery and restaurant with an outdoor dining area could open in Chino Hills by the end of the year at The Rincon at Pomona Rincon Road and Soquel Canyon Parkway. The 4,000-square-foot establishment to be called “Luchador Brewing Company” will include Mexican food, stained-glass roll-up doors, and an open area for corn hole and other games.

Veteran Chino Valley GATE teacher Cathy Osman has been warning school board members that excessive use of technology is bad for young students. Board member Andrew Cruz added his support. Giant interactive computer screens were recently purchased for classrooms at Litel and Oak Ridge elementary schools, and more schools will follow.
