San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted 700 compliance checks of registered sex offenders in 13 cities, including Chino Hills, making 20 arrests on various charges.

Fifty-five deputies, four parole agents and 12 probation officers conducted its “Operation Broken Heart” between April 26 and May 18 to verify the home addresses of each registered sex offender.

During the operation, deputies learned two sex offenders have since died, one was already in custody, and 14 had moved from their last registered address.

Deputies visited the homes of sex offenders in Chino Hills, Barstow, Colorado River, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Loma Linda, Morongo, San Bernardino, Twentynine Palms, Twin Peaks, Upland, Yucaipa and Yucca Valley.
