Chino Police Department is accepting applications for its Youth Academy, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 10 through Thursday, June 13. 

Classes will be held at the Chino Police Department headquarters, 5450 Guardian Way, north of Walnut Avenue and west of Benson Avenue. 

Participants will train on several aspects of law enforcement with presentations and demonstrations, and hands-on activities, organizers said. Applicants must be in high school, ages 14 to 18, live or attend school in Chino and pass a minimal background check. 

This year’s topics include traffic unit, communications, K-9 unit, arrest techniques, patrol operations, SWAT, gangs, graffiti, narcotics, explorer program, Breaking Barriers United, firearms training simulator, crisis negotiations, CSI and criminal Investigations. 

Deadline to apply in Wednesday, June 5.
