Ontario Christian High graduate William Mouw, of Chino, won the California State Amateur Golf Championships last Saturday, beating No. 3-ranked Christian Banke 4 and 2 in a 36-hole finale on the Dunes Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Northern California.

“It was a great match. We both played great,” said Mouw, who will attend Pepperdine University this fall on a golf scholarship.

Mouw, 18, the 24th-ranked golfer, became one of the youngest golfers to win the tournament, which began in 1912.
