Playoff brackets to be announced
CIF-Southern Section will announced playoff brackets for boys water polo, football and girls tennis on its website at cifss.org.
Boys water polo brackets will be released at 10 a.m. today (Oct. 27). Football brackets will be released at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, followed by girls tennis at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29. Playoff games in all three sports begin next week.

Don Lugo girls, Division 3 varsity

Ayala High School’s Mary Wang placed fifth and Euna Lee took sixth at the Palomares League finals Oct. 17, earning first-team honors. Wang shot a 171 and Lee a 173 in the two-day event.
Glendora won the team championship, Claremont placed second, Ayala took third and Wilson of Hacienda Heights placed fourth.

Ayala 38, Claremont 7
Ayala led 35-0 at halftime of Thursday’s reguiar-season ending victory over the Wolfpack. The Bulldogs, who started the season with a 5-0 record, finished 2-3 in Palomares League play to place fourth in the league standings.
Alta Loma 21, Ayala 10
Ayala’s Xavier Crockett ran for 125 yards, including a 25-yard first quarter touchdown, in the Bulldogs’ loss Oct. 19 to Alta Loma. Ramzee Jaridly added a 20-yard field goal for Ayala, which fell to 6-3 overall, 1-3 in league.

Upland 42, Chino Hills 32
Chino Hills quarterback Brayden Fawcett tossed two touchdown passes to Giovanni Isles and Walter Carl III ran the ball 23 times for 113 yards and a score, but the Huskies fell to Upland in league play Oct. 19.

Don Lugo 62, Diamond Bar 7
Don Lugo’s Gary Garcia had a season-high 283 yards and five touchdowns Oct. 19 in the Conquistadores’ victory over the Brahmas. Brian Englan added five carries for 149 yards and two scores and Johnnie Valdez connected with Marcos Melendez on a 15-yard touchdown pass for Don Lugo, which improved to 4-0 in league. Diamond Bar was held to 82 yards of offense in the loss.

Ontario Christian 66, Desert Christian Academy 6
Ontario Christian’s Ethan Venerable rushed for four touchdowns and returned a punt for a score in the Knights’ 60-point victory against Desert Christian Academy. The Knights led 52-6 at the half.
Venerable had six carries and finished with 148 yards. Shaun Grady, Maximus Hernandez and Tyler Ford also scored a touchdown for Ontario Christian (5-4, 2-2).

Diamond Bar 13, Don Lugo 9
Diamond Bar clinched the Mt. Baldy League championship with an undefeated record with Monday’s win over Don Lugo. Don Lugo finished second in league play.
Chino 7, Montclair 6
Chino improved to 5-12 overall, 3-5 in league with Monday’s win over the Cavaliers (2-15, 0-9).
Claremont 13, Ayala 10
Claremont’s three-goal win over Ayala Tuesday lifted the Wolfpack’s league record to 7-2.
