Division 1

Chino Hills 68, Canyon (Anaheim) 51

The Huskies outscored Canyon 50-27 in the second half in their second-round win Tuesday at the Canyon High School gym in Anaheim. With the victory, Chino Hills improved to 18-9.

Onyeka Okongwu scored 26 points and 14 rebounds and Nick Manor-Hall had 26 points for the Huskies. 

Chino Hills 59, Muir 37

Chino Hills led 17-6 after one quarter, 30-16 at halftime and 41-25 at the end of three quarters in its first-round game Feb. 8 at the Chino Hills High gym. 

Division 4A

Ontario Christian 67, Century 38

Ontario Christian’s William Mouw scored 23 points and had nine rebounds and five assists to lead the Knights past Century in a second-round playoff game Tuesday. Julian Alvarez scored 16 points, Alex Schloeman added 11 points and six rebounds and Nolan Jorgensen added six points, 11 rebounds and five blocks for Ontario Christian, which improved to 28-2.  

Ontario Christian 80, United Christian Academy 39

Julian Alvarez scored a game-high 28 points and William Mouw scored 15 points and had seven rebounds and eight assists to lead Ontario Christian past United Christian Academy in a first-round game. 

Dylan Haagsma added 10 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals and Alex Schloeman finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals for Ontario Christian. 

Girls basketball

Division 2A

Flintridge Prep 56, Chino Hills 42

The Huskies had their season come to an end Wednesday night with a 14-point loss to Flintridge Prep High in La Canada. 

Flintridge Prep led 11-6 after one quarter, 29-24 at halftime and outscored the Huskies 27-18 in the second half. 

Chino Hills 37, Arcadia 33

Chino Hills High’s Dorcus Wu scored 14 points, dished out seven assists and had four steals last Saturday in the Huskies’ win over Arcadia in a second-round game. 

Erica Collins had nine points, 12 rebounds, two assists, a steal and three blocks and Ashley Collins chipped in with six points, 11 rebounds and a steal for Chino Hills. 

Division 3A

Laguna Hills 54, Don Lugo 49

Don Lugo’s Brianna Shuttle scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Krystle Medrano added 10 points in the Conquistadores’ second-round loss last Saturday at Laguna Hills High School. Laguna Hills’ Cierra Arlow scored 17 points, Mady Riddle added 14 points and Kayla Chang had 12 points for the Hawks, which outscored Don Lugo 15-6 in the fourth quarter. 

Division 4A

Anaheim 59, Ontario Christian 40

Ontario Christian’s Madeline Martinez finished with 10 points, Cassandra Gishwiller scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds and Sydney Nystrom grabbed 11 rebounds last Saturday in the Knights’ second-round loss to Anaheim (23-4). 

Mikayla Campbell grabbed 10 rebounds and Deauna Houston scored six points for Ontario Christian, which ended its season at 19-9. 

Girls soccer

Division 6

Ontario Christian 3, The Webb Schools 0

Ontario Christian scored twice in the first half and added a third goal with about 15 minutes left in the game Tuesday in its win over The Webb Schools in Claremont in a quarterfinal game. 

The Knights will host Arrowhead Christian at 1 p.m. today (Feb. 16) in the semifinals. 

The winner of today’s game will advance to the CIF-Southern Section Division 6 championship game, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 22 or Saturday, Feb. 23.

Ontario Christian 4, Pomona Catholic 2

Ontario Christian’s Mia Galdamez scored two goals and assisted her sister Julia Galdamez with a second-half goal with less than five minutes left in the game in the Knights’ second-round win Feb. 8. 

Brooke Buckly had a goal early in the game to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Pomona Catholic’s Iris Navarro scored a goal on a penalty shot and Hailey Phoenix had a goal with seven minutes left in the first half.    

Boys soccer

Division 4

Montclair 2, Chino Hills 0

Montclair’s Israel Rodriguez scored a goal in opening minutes of last Saturday’s second-round game, then added a second goal on the Cavaliers’ final possession of the game to lift Montclair past the Huskies. Chino Hills ends its season at 11-10-2.

Don Lugo Tournament

Don Lugo 11, Excelsior 1

Don Lugo’s JoJo Galindo and Ryan Van Earden each hit a home run Tuesday in the Conquistadores’ victory over Excelsior. 

Don Lugo 2, Los Altos 1

Don Lugo scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to pull out a one-run victory over Los Altos. Simon Aceto pitched all seven innings for Don Lugo, which improved to 2-1. 

Frosh score: Los Altos 11, Don Lugo 4. 

Chino Tournament

Ontario Christian 3, Vista Del Lago 1

Ontario Christian’s Ryan Mendez knocked in two runs and pitcher Dylan Alanis tossed five innings, allowed two hits and struck out four in the Knights’ win Tuesday. 

Los Osos 12, Chino 4

Chino’s Isaac Ruiz finished 4 for 4 with two RBIs, but the Cowboys fell to Los Osos in its season-opening game Tuesday.  

Nonleague

Ayala 9, Esperanza 1 (Game 1)

Ayala pitcher Joe Naranjo tossed five innings, struck out five and allowed two hits and a run Monday in the Bulldogs’ season-opening win against Esperanza. Naranjo, Sean McLeod, Rico Figueroa and Jacob Badawi had two hits each for Ayala.

Ayala 13, Esperanza 3 (Game 2)

Joe Naranjo had a home run and three RBIs and Dylan Cook allowed two hits over five innings and struck out four Monday in the Bulldogs’ victory. Connor Valenzuela finished 1 for 2 with a double in the Bulldogs victory. 

Upland 3, Don Lugo 1 (Game 1)

Don Lugo’s Gabe Villa had two hits and JT Cortinas, Andrew Hamilton and Kellen Mendez had one hit each last Saturday in the Conquistadores’ loss to Upland.

Don Lugo 5, Upland 1 (Game 2)

Don Lugo’s Gio Dominguez had two hits and three RBIs and David Vizcaino tossed seven innings, struck out five and allowed three hits to earn a complete-game victory last Saturday. Vizcaino, Gabe Villa, Andrew Hamilton and Sean Boscovich had two hits each for Don Lugo, which finished with 12 hits in the victory. 

Softball

Etiwanda Tournament

Chino Hills 10, Los Altos 2

Chino Hills won its fourth straight game to the start the season with an eight-run victory over Los Altos (1-2-1). In its four victories, the Huskies have outscored their opponents, 42-5. 

Chino Hills 13, Alta Loma 2

The Huskies scored five first-inning runs, added two runs in the second and put up six runs in the third inning Tuesday in their defeat of Alta Loma. 

Chino Hills 17, Colton 0

The Huskies improved to 2-0 with Monday night’s shutout victory over the Yellowjackets. 

Chino Hills 2, Crescenta Valley 1

Chino Hills opened its season Monday with a one-run win against Crescenta Valley to open the Etiwanda Tournament in Rancho Cucamonga. 

Upland Tournament

Chino 5, South Hills 2

Chino’s Milaysia Ochoa, Violet Salazar, Karagan Valera, Victoria Esparza and Brianna Mills each knocked in a run Tuesday in the Cowgirls’ win over the Huskies. 

Upland 7, Chino 0

Chino opened its season Monday with a shutout loss to the Highlanders. Milaysia Ochoa had Chino’s only hit in the game. 

Junior varsity score: Upland 8, Chino 1.

Nonleague

Ontario Christian 13, Valley Christian 1

Kaitlyn Hawkins went 4 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs Tuesday in the Knights’ win over Valley Christian. Sierra Banuelos recorded three hits and Alexis Toledo and Reese Montgomery had two doubles and two RBIs each for Ontario Christian.
