Jurupa Valley Tournament

Championship game

Ayala 7, Bonita 1

The Bulldogs captured the Jurupa Valley Tournament championship last Saturday, beating the Bearcats in the title game at Big League Dreams Sports Park in Mira Loma. 

Tori Mendoza earned her fourth win of the season, allowing an unearned run. Kayla Rodgers finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Ayala. 

Kobie Hura, Hannah Hughbanks and Tania Garcia finished with two hits for the Bulldogs, who scored a run in the first inning and had three runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to pick up the win. 

The Bulldogs outhit Bonita, 12-2, in the game.

Don Lugo’s David Vizcaino and Isaac Samano each scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday, but the Conquistadores fell short in their loss to Covina.

Ayala’s Daniel Ramirez had an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning last Saturday in the Bulldogs’ loss to Cypress, which broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. 

Ayala 3, Canyon 2

Cole Koniarsky recorded an RBI double and Sean McLeod recorded an RBI sacrifice fly in the Bulldogs’ win Feb. 22 against Canyon.
