Chino Hills High’s Jacqueline Duarte runs to a first-place finish at Tuesday’s Baseline League cross country meet at Bonelli Park in San Dimas, finishing in a time of 18:45. As a team, Chino Hills finished fourth. On the boys’ side, Chino Hills’ Jake Bergmann won the race in 16:29, but the Huskies placed fourth in the team standings.

Girls varsity

Chino Hills High School’s Jacqueline Duarte placed first in the Brenda Martinez Girls’ Sweepstakes race at last Saturday’s Inland Empire Challenge at the Riverside Cross Country Course, finishing in 17:20.4. The Huskies placed fifth in the team standings.

Lauren Jauregui took 13th in 18:34.8 for Chino Hills.

Boys varsity

Chino Hills High’s Jake Bergmann placed 11th overall with a time of 15:20.2 in the Jeff Swigart Boys’ Sweepstakes race, leading the Huskies to a seventh-place finish in the team standings. Noah Rehfeldt placed 23rd in the race, running a time of 15:40.5.

Ayala (6-2, 1-2) at Alta Loma (5-3, 1-2); Chino Hills (5-3, 2-1) at Upland (7-1, 3-0); Diamond Bar (3-5, 2-1) at Don Lugo (4-4, 3-0); Desert Christian Academy (4-4, 0-3) at Ontario Christian (4-4, 1-2).

Mt. Baldy League

Chino 26, Montclair 7

The Cowboys scored 13 points in the second quarter and added 13 more in the third quarter Thursday night to snap their six-game losing streak with a win over Montclair. Chino improved its record to 2-7 overall, 1-3 in league play. 

Palomares League

Ayala 24, Bonita 11

Ayala quarterback Cole McCain threw a touchdown pass to Andrew Aguilar and scored a rushing touchdown in the Bulldogs’ win over Bonita. The game began Oct. 12 at Ayala High School, was stopped at halftime because of lightning, and continued last Saturday at Chino High School. Xavier Crockett led the Bulldogs with 100 rushing yards and a score.

Junior varsity score: Ayala 30, Bonita 23.

Baseline League

Chino Hills 31, Los Osos 13

Chino Hills improved to 2-1 in league play with an Oct. 12 win over the Grizzlies. Quarterback Brayden Fawcett tossed three touchdown passes and ran in a score for Chino Hills, which improved to 4-4 overall. Huskies running back Walter Carl III had a game-high 181 yards on the ground on 30 carries. Lightning forced a postponed of the game until the next day.

Junior varsity score: Chino Hills 20, Los Osos 0.

Ambassador League

Ontario Christian 21, Western Christian 0

Ontario Christian’s Ethan Venerable ran for 122 yards and a touchdown in the Knights’ win Oct. 12 over the Lancers. The game was stopped at halftime because of lightning and did not resume the next day. Moses Serrano ran nine times for 66 yards and touchdown and Alexander Terriquez caught a nine-yard touchdown pass for Ontario Christian (3-4 overall, 1-2 in league).

Montclair 15, Chino 3

Chino singles winners from Monday’s match: Kaitlyn Nguyen (6-1).

Doubles winners: Dani Ulloa and Natalie Tapia (6-4); Vanessa Martinez and Breana Alonzo (7-6). 

Junior varsity score: Chino 5, Montclair 3.

Girls volleyball

Chino defeats Ontario 25-18, 25-17, 25-8

Chino finished its regular season with a 7-3 record with a three-set sweep over the Jaguars. 

Boys water polo 

Mt. Baldy League

Don Lugo 20, Chino 0 

Don Lugo captured the Fish Bowl trophy Wednesday afternoon, shutting out Chino High School in league play. The Conquistadores will host Diamond Bar (8-0 in league) at 3:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22.

Don Lugo 20, Montclair 6

Don Lugo’s record improved to 7-1 in league play Monday with a 14-goal win over the Cavaliers. With the loss, Montclair fell to 2-12 overall, 0-7 in league.

Baseline League 

Damien 16, Chino Hills 2

Damien improved to 7-0 in league play with Tuesday’s victory over Chino Hills (3-4 in league).
