Earthquake drill

Second grade students in Stephanie Daugherty’s class at Rhodes Elementary ducked under their desks and covered their heads at 10:15 a.m. Oct. 15 following an announcement of the statewide earthquake drill.

Employees of Chino Valley school district, fire district and the City of Chino ducked and covered at 10:15 a.m. Thursday as part of the statewide Great California Shakeout earthquake drill.

All Chino Valley schools were asked to participate, said district spokeswoman Julie Gobin.

Personnel at all seven fire stations dropped, covered and held during the simulated earthquake, said spokeswoman Massiel Ladron De Guevara

The City of Chino used the opportunity to test Chino Notify, a citywide mass communication and alert system, said spokeswoman Monica Gutierrez.
