Thousands of guests are expected to visit The Friends of Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show, to be held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Boys Republic, 1907 Boys Republic Drive, Chino Hills.

The late Mr. McQueen, an actor famous for his action movies in the late 1950s through 1980, was a resident of the home for troubled youth when he was in his teens.

Kick off dinner

A Commemorative Dinner will kick off events Friday, May 31 at the Boys Republic gym. A reception will be held 4:30 to 6 p.m., dinner from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the program begins at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $125 per person. Live and silent auctions will be held 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Theme of the dinner is the movie “The Towering Inferno,” in which Mr. McQueen starred in 1974.

Car show

Gates of the car show, also with “The Towering Inferno” theme, will open at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 1 for display vehicles. Gates will open at 8 a.m. for general admission. An awards ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. 

Car show fees through May 15 are $65 per car and $45 per motorcycle. Cost after May 15 is $75 per car and $55 per motorcycle. The car registration includes the vehicle entry, admission for the driver and one passenger and a free show T-shirt. The motorcycle registration includes the motorcycle entry, the rider and a free show T-shirt.

Cost for spectators is $10 for general admission. Children 12 and under will be admitted free. Parking is free.

Free tram tours of Boys Republic will be offered during the show, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food will be sold by local vendors. 

Live and silent auctions will be held 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Boys Republic tennis court on the football field. Raffles will also be held.

Dinner after the show

A “Kickback Dinner” will be held after the car show behind the baseball field at Boys Republic. A cocktail hour will begin at 4 p.m. and dinner will be at 6 p.m. Cost is $25 and includes beverages and food.

Proceeds from the events will benefit Boys Republic.
