A pickup truck driver was flown to a trauma center Thursday afternoon after the truck he was driving became wedged underneath a semitruck on the southbound 71 Freeway, just south of Pine Avenue, in Chino Hills. The name, age and city of residence of the injured man was not available by Champion press time Friday morning.

Chino Valley Fire District firefighters and the California Highway Patrol were called at 3:40 p.m., finding a white Dodge Ram smashed underneath the back of the semitruck.

Firefighters had to extricate the man, who was awake and talking with rescuers, fire officials said.

A medic helicopter landed on the freeway to take the injured man to the hospital.
