A claim submitted by Eastvale resident Don Weaver against the City of Chino for his flooded backyard after a fire hydrant behind his home was struck by a motorist during a police department pursuit last September was rejected. Mr. Weaver submitted photographs of his flooded backyard and a contractor’s invoice of $7,450. According to a city staff report, the pursuit ended when the suspects fleeing from the Chino Police in an SUV struck the fire hydrant. The claim was rejected because the damage was caused by the length of time the hydrant was allowed to release water into his backyard, not by any action caused by the city, according to the report.
