Mikaela Ramirez

Indiana University signee Mikaela Ramirez, an Ayala High School senior, will compete in the girls’ 1,600m and girls’ 3,200m races at the CIF-Southern Section Prelims at Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo. Several Ayala and Chino Hills high athletes will compete in the Division 1 meet.

Dozens of Ayala, Chino, Chino Hills, Don Lugo and Ontario Christian high school track and field athletes will compete today (May 4) in the CIF-Southern Section Preliminaries. 

Ayala and Chino Hills athletes will compete in the Division 1 meet at Trabuco Hills High School, 27501 Cordova Road, Mission Viejo. 

Chino High will compete in the Division 2 meet at Moorpark High, 4500 Tierra Rejada Road, Moorpark.

Don Lugo High will compete in the Division 3 meet at Estancia High School, 2323 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa and Ontario Christian will compete in the Division 4 meet at Carpinteria High School, 4810 Foothill Road, Carpinteria. 

Tickets are $8 for general admission, $5 for high school students with school identification and children ages 5 to 13. 

Field events will start at 11 a.m. and running events will begin at noon at all meets. 

Top athletes from today’s meets will advance to the CIF-Southern Section Finals on Saturday, May 11 at El Camino College in Torrance. 

The CIF-Southern Section Masters Meet is set for Saturday, May 18 at El Camino College and the CIF State Meet will be held Saturday, May 25 at Buchanan High in Clovis.
