Ayala High School boys’ golf team

The Ayala High School boys’ golf team holds their CIF-Southern Section Eastern Division runner-up trophy after placing second out of 18 teams at Monday’s tournament at Los Serranos Golf and Country Club in Chino Hills. 

The Ayala High boys’ golf team placed second at the CIF-Southern Section Eastern Division Team Championships Monday afternoon at the Los Serranos Golf and Country Club in Chino Hills, with three golfers shooting under 75 and a fourth golfer finishing at 76. 

Amaan Patel finished with a team-best 70, Branden Cho and Tyler Hsieh each shot a 74, Ramzee Jaridly fired a 76, Anthony Reynoso had an 80 and Tommy Ramirez finished with an 83. 

As a team, Ayala had 14-over-par 374 on the par-72 course. Palm Desert High won the 18-team Eastern Division tournament for the second straight year with an 11-under 349.  Derrick Liu and Chris Wardup each shot a 67 and Ryln Hadley had a 68 for Palm Desert. Ayala and Palm Desert advanced to CIF-Southern Section-Southern California Golf Association team qualifier and individual finals, which was held Thursday at Goose Creek Golf Course in Jurupa Valley. 

At the Central Division Team Championships at Mountain Meadows Golf Course in Pomona on Monday, Ontario Christian High placed sixth in the 18-team event. 

William Mouw, a Pepperdine University-signee shot a 72 and senior Hannah Zemen shot a 75.
