Rancho Cucamonga 79, Chino Hills 74 

Rancho Cucamonga improved its overall record to 16-3 with Wednesday’s Baseline League season-opening win over Chino Hills (8-6, 0-1). 

Ambassador League

Ontario Christian 64, Loma Linda Academy 33

Ontario Christian’s Julian Alvarez scored 15 points, Dylan Haagsma added 14 points and William Mouw had 13 points in the Knights’ win Tuesday over the Loma Linda Academy. 

Palomares League

Bonita 52, Ayala 48

Ayala fell to 0-3 in league with Tuesday’s loss to Bonita (14-5, 2-1). 

Junior varsity score: Bonita 67, Ayala 50. 

Frosh score: Bonita 68, Ayala 45.

So Cal Shootout

Damien 86, Ontario Christian 54

Ontario Christian’s Julian Alvarez scored 18 points and Dylan Haagsma added 11 points last Saturday in the Knights’ loss to host Damien at its So Cal Shootout one-day event in La Verne. The Spartans led 20-7 after the first quarter, 38-16 at halftime and 61-31 at the end of the third quarter. Ontario Christian fell to 17-2 with the loss. 

Don Lugo 69, Flintridge Prep 66

Don Lugo improved to a record of 9-10 with last Saturday’s win over Flintridge Prep (8-8) at the So Cal Shootout at Damien High School in La Verne. 

Nonleague

Ayala 62, West Covina 46

Ayala’s Kameron Hobbs scored 19 points and Austin Clark added 10 points Jan. 2 in the Bulldogs win over West Covina. 

Junior varsity score: West Covina 54, Ayala 48. 

Murrieta Mesa 80, Chino 47

Murrieta Mesa scored 23 points in the first quarter and 30 points in the third quarter in its Jan. 4 win over Chino (4-12). Chino’s Syruss Galindo scored 16 points and Josh Williams added 11 points in the loss.

Junior varsity score: Murrieta Mesa 78, Chino 42.

Baseline League 

Chino Hills 58, Rancho Cucamonga 48  

Chino Hills High’s Dorcus Wu finished with 20 points and nine rebounds and Ashley Collins scored 18 points in the Huskies win Wednesday. Erica Collins added 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for Chino Hills. 

Ambassador League

Ontario Christian 34, Loma Linda Academy 33

Ontario Christian’s Cassandra Gishwiller scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Knights past Loma Linda Academy Tuesday. Sydney Nystrom added eight points and seven rebounds for Ontario Christian in the victory.

Palomares League

Bonita 82, Ayala 46

Bonita (13-5 overall) remained undefeated in league play with Tuesday’s win over the Bulldogs (3-15, 0-3). 

Run & Gun Tournament

Ayala 54, Capistrano Valley 43

The Bulldogs took a 28-22 lead into halftime and outscored the Cougars 28-21 in the second half last Saturday at the Run & Gun Tournament in Vista to improve to 3-14 this season. 

Other reported tournament scores: Valley View 65, Ayala 44.

Don Lugo’s Reanne Riola scored a game-high 20 points, but the Conquistadores fell short in their loss to Glendora last Saturday. Jorday Holmes scored 19 points to lead Glendora. 

Sierra Canyon 72, Chino 26

Chino’s Alice Barajas scored nine points Jan. 2 in the Cowgirls’ loss to Sierra Canyon. Sierra Canyon, ranked second nationally by maxpreps.com, led 25-9 after one quarter and 52 15 at the half.

Don Lugo improved its league record to 2-1 with Tuesday’s win over the Cowgirls (0-2 in league).

Don Lugo picked up its first league win while Chino fell to 0-1-1 in league Wednesday.

Chino Hills and Rancho Cucamonga had their records to to 1-0-1 in league with Wednesday’s tie.

Bonita 1, Ayala 0 

Bonita improved to 2-1 in league play with Wednesday’s shut out win over the Bulldogs (1-1 in league).

Ambassador League

Ontario Christian 4, Loma Linda Academy 1

Joel Rowley, Ben de Falkenberg, Matthew Bourne and Evan Sadler each had a goal for Ontario Christian Tuesday in the Knights’ victory against Loma Linda Academy. 

Nonleague

Chino Hills 2, Ayala 1

Chino Hills improved to 2-1 this season with its Jan. 4 victory over the Bulldogs (6-6-2).

Chino scored two of its three goals in the first half in Wednesday’s win over Don Lugo.

Chino Hills broke a scorless tie with a second-half goal Wednedsay in its win over the Cougars.

Ayala and Bonita went scoreless Wednesday and settled for a tie in a league game Wednesday.

Ontario Christian improved to 8-8-1 overall, 4-1-1 in league play Tuesday with a shut-out victory over Loma Linda Academy (2-11 overall, 0-7 in league). 

Nonleague

Chino Hills 3, Diamond Bar 0

The Huskies improved their record to 7-2-1 with a Jan. 4 shut-out over the Brahmas.
